Postal PIN code API

Free, key-less JSON API for Indian PIN codes and post offices — no sign-up, no rate key, CORS enabled so it can be called straight from a browser.

Compatible endpoints

These match the response format of api.postalpincode.in, so existing code keeps working if you simply change the host.

1. Search by PIN code

Richer v1 endpoints

Lower-case JSON, HTTP status codes that match the outcome, and extra fields — district/state slugs, coordinates, map links and canonical page URLs.

Notes

No API key and no account needed. Please cache responses rather than polling.
Responses are UTF-8 JSON with Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *. OPTIONS is answered with 204.
Unknown PIN codes return 404 (Status: Error on the compatible endpoints).
Data covers 165,574 post offices and 19,586 PIN codes.
Please set a descriptive User-Agent or link back — it helps us keep the API free.

Every API result has a matching web page, e.g. PIN 500001. Use the JSON for apps and link to the page when you need a human-readable reference.
